Choose Happiness Today!
Do you want to find more happiness in your life? If so, you’re not alone! Many people feel dissatisfied with the state of their lives, but don’t know where to start looking for a change. The first step in choosing happiness is recognizing it as something that can be consciously created, rather than passively received. Here are five ways to choose happiness today, and every day moving forward!
Practice Gratitude
One of my favorite quotes is from Albert Schweitzer: “Happiness is nothing more than good health and a bad memory”. While most people know happiness can be something we choose, they don’t realize that our habits and thought patterns help create either a healthy or unhealthy perspective. If you practice gratitude for small things (like your morning cup of coffee) each day, you will soon begin to feel blessed by everything in your life – big and small. Gratitude strengthens relationships, fosters kindness, reduces stress, and opens us up to feeling whole. Gratitude is definitely one way to choose happiness!
Be Mindful of What You Value
It’s easy to get so caught up in our daily lives that we forget what’s really important to us. When you find yourself getting stressed out or upset, take a moment to ask yourself what values are being challenged. Is it important for you to be right? Or is it more important for you to have peace of mind? If it’s peace of mind, then try not to spend your energy trying to prove that you are right.
Practice Forgiveness
To truly move forward in a positive way, we have to forgive. Forgiveness is not about excusing negative actions or being a doormat. It’s about freeing ourselves from something that’s been holding us back emotionally and spiritually. In order to let go of negativity, we must forgive—and if you’re struggling with forgiving someone who has wronged you, there are steps you can take that will help your process become easier than ever before.
Think About What’s Working
Choosing happiness over resentment is a choice that can transform your life. When you choose forgiveness instead of resentment, you’ll feel less stress and more peace of mind. What’s more, forgiving others may increase your own self-esteem and opens up new opportunities for relationships with those who have hurt you. So what are you waiting for? Start practicing forgiveness today!
Change Your Reactions and Choose Happiness
If you want to create happiness in your life, look for opportunities and ways to use all of your senses. Instead of focusing on what isn’t working in a situation, focus on what is working and how you can create more happy experiences with other people and things around you. This practice will help you realize that it’s not always about changing circumstances but your reactions and responses to them.
